Heavier, Deeper reading.
Francis Rous is very very mature, I found Him trying to find someone more mature than I. I bought over 5o commentaries and 20 online till I found Francis Rous. The bad part was it was a micro fish copy back from 1631. So it was tough to read and words were missing. It was so important for me to have it readable that I translated it as best as I could and posted it online here. Its about 98% accurate. So if something sounds funny Its because I had a hard time figuring out the letters because the copy of the micro fish cut some of them out. This gets very meaty, so you must obey, he who has been given much will be required much!
Francis Rous (1631) “The Mystical Marriage Experimental discoveries of the heavenly marriage Between a soul and her Savior” Excellent Book!! Here are the eleven Chapters:
- Marks of Divine Visitations 1
- Marks of Divine Visitations 2
- Counsels and Direction for those in this Blessed Marriage
- Benefits of visitations of Christ by His Spirit
- The spouse estate in desertions though seemingly miserable, is indeed profitable 5a.
- Spiritual Desertions 5b
- Spiritual Desertions 5c
- The Heavenly marriage is happy not only in the pleasures, but in the labor of love.4
- The happiness of the soul in her second Marriage 3
- The soul has but one husband
- The soul seeks a husband and finds him
“Religious Affections” Jonathan Edwards. Excellent book to distinguish if what is going on in your mind, emotions and life is really of God or fake. The Song of Songs was used as a revival book during the puritan era, also the inland China mission, by Watchman nee, was founded on the Song of Songs. In the middle of all these heightened emotions, Jonathan Edwards wrote, “Religious Affections” so that the people would know what was of the Holy Spirit and what wasn’t. I put this in here because the Song of Songs is a very emotional book so Edwards help us understand true and false emotions. This is heavy reading. Just a word from experience, if you read this book when you are continuing in disobedience then you will think your not saved, but if you read it when you are walking in obedience then it is one of the sweetest delights here on earth! Basically, if the experience produces balanced progressive holiness then the experience is of God. On Amazon or read free Here

God the Father sent His one and only Son into the world to redeem His bride. God created us and we all sinned in Adam. God gave His Son a sinful bride. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, paid the price for their ransom thus displaying His love for them. Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved from the Wrath of God to come.

Full Commentaries Literal
More literal approach Cambridge , (Paul Tanner) a person with a literal view commenting on the allegorical. Guzik
Literal with Solomon wooing her away from her true love the shepherd. Expositors Bible
Literal with spiritual applications James Strong, S. T. D., who combines the literal and allegorical modes of interpretation the idea that the poem celebrates the royal marriage, and is also symbolic of the relation of Jehovah and His people in both dispensations.
My view that it is the best marriage song that illustrates God’s Love to His enemies in parabolic form through 5 stages of growth, from babe to the highest level of maturity possible here on earth in Song 8:14.
