True Love Reciprocates

Doctrine= “Let the Word of Christ dwell richly in you” Col. 3:16 and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The actions of Song 4:7-9 are good example of how a wife.  “My beloved is mine and I am his is her meditation.  She is his delight and there is no flaw in her for she is altogether lovely.  Him praises of her beauty was what she heard.  After praising her in order to keep her humble for she was lovely and she knew it when she said “Dark am I, yet lovely” and here on the wedding night her see’s her beauty and loveliness and expresses his love to her by praising her physical beauty that is a reflection of her moral beauty, that ravishes his heart more than wine.

Song of Solomon 4:7-9

7 “You are altogether beautiful, my love;
    there is no flaw in you.
Come with me from Lebanon, my bride;
    come with me from Lebanon.
Depart from the peak of Amana,
    from the peak of Senir and Hermon,
from the dens of lions,
    from the mountains of leopards.

You have captivated my heart, my sister, my bride;
    you have captivated my heart with one glance of your eyes,
    with one jewel of your necklace.

Keep the truths about God delightful in your mind.  Truths also about your husband being yours and you are his.

The bride delighted in the fact that she was his suitable helper and he was her king, beloved husband and friend.

On the greatest day of her life so far she is on top of many various high points and he asks her to come down from there, she immediately looks his way in an act that saved her life.

The context is that her bridegroom is praising his brides beauty on the wedding night and she is in danger of being killed by leopards.  But she is filled with love, filled with the Spirit, filled with truth (truth of her beauty being adored by her beloved).  He just got done praising her and she is on top of multiple mountains.

Are you delighted in the Fact that Jesus owns you and that you are His?   That when the bridegroom/bridegroom wanted her to display her love to him by listening or fulfilling his desire for her to “Come down from the Mountain tops.”

If the idea of what he is saying is true then

The idea is not of the various mountains for she can’t be on top of all of them.   How could she come down from multiple different locations.  Solomon is saying in poetic language that she has mountain top victories over sin, various high points in her relationship with him/Him.

She has those high points in her mind as he is adoring her beauty in 4:1-5

In courtship and marriage there are ups and downs.  The ups are pretty high, joyful and delightful on the wedding day!  To numbers to count, but all delightful.  A high point she has in her mind is the fact that he is pleased with her beauty.  He praises her beauty for 5 verses then sums it up with “There is no flaw in you, you are altogether lovely”

Imagine be told that by the husband of your dreams?

This is a high point because she wants to be as beautiful as possible for her  husband.  Here it is on the wedding night that he is adoring and praising her physical beauty that is a reflection of her moral beauty, for all secondary beauty is but a resemblance of God’s Beauty.

?I wonder if each mountain corresponds to her thoughts on the high points of his/His love to her?  Like him being her king, shepherd, praising her, engaged, holding each other tighter.  The the long awaited wedding to a husband above ten thousand other husbands is here and he is praising her beauty and loveliness.

Lebanon= White, Holiness, pure.  She is on top of a pure white holy mountain.

Amana=Integrity, truth, nurse

Summit of Senir=  Meaning pointed or peak, thus speaking of the height of her thoughts, her thoughts are on the heights of his love.

Mount Hermon was known for its proverbial beauty.   “Glory or shekinh”  The Psalmist exclaims that Tabor and Hermon shout for joy at the name of YHWH (Psalm 89:12), and that the dwelling together of brothers is as pleasant as the dew of Hermon, coming down upon the mountains of Zion (Psalm 133:3

?So she is on top of various mountains that are beautiful due to their holiness consisting in great heights of glory?

The “dew of Hermon” is referred to ( Psalms 89: : 12 ). Its modern name is Jebel-esh-Sheikh, “the chief mountain.” It is one of the most conspicuous mountains in Palestine or Syria. “In whatever part of Palestine the Israelite turned his eye northward, Hermon was there, terminating the view. From the plain along the coast, from the Jordan valley, from the heights of Moab and Gilead, from the plateau of Bashan, the pale, blue, snow-capped cone forms the one feature in the northern horizonThe “dew of Hermon” is referred to ( Psalms 89: : 12 ). Getting a sense of his love to her due to his praise of her she is humble and answers his call and he further delights in the reciprocation of her love which is more delightful than wine.

Notice also that there is no hesitation in her obedience here for the love in the one glance of her eye toward him immediately after he said come, ravished his heart.  Her love greatly pleased him, for it is a reflection of God’s love and her love was more delightful than wine.

There is no erotic love here on display that he delights in.  He delighted in the glance of her eye immediately after her obedience saved her danger and death.  But even death couldn’t stop her love for she was acting out her oneness in the relationship.  She was his and was acting like it.  Truth about God’s love and her husband was dwelling richly in her mind and she was delighted in those thoughts, therefore when he called her down from the height, holy, truth and shakinh.

The Spirit is a Spirit of Truth, holiness and love.  Let the word of Christ dwell richly in you.   The command could come to the OT believer, “let the truth of God, the coming Messiah and who you are in him/Him dwell richly and delightfully in you.”  She was his and God wanted her to obey her bridegroom so when her bridegroom called she immediately turn his direction and the glance of her eye got his heart ponding faster.

Here we also see the bride staying humble immediately after the greatest praise of her life!  She is so absolutely morally beautiful and her love of obedience ravishes his heart for her doves eyes glance his way she he called.  Her obedience to God is what ravished his heart.  God is love.  Love just displayed itself in the act of a wife listening to her husbands call.  For “Wives are to submit to their husbands” Ephesians 5.   Her love manifesting itself in looking his way saved her life and ravished his heart more than wine.

Do you get this husbands!  The woman in the Song listened to her husband because his love to her was foremost in her heart.  Husbands must always be loving their wives in order for them to see the husbands love.  Sounds obvious but true.  If a husband stopped loving or was unfaithful then the wife would no longer be experiencing love from her husband that she so desires.  The flow of love is God love is understood by Solomon and then the king of peace loves his bride, demonstrated by his praises of her prov. 31:28-30, she stays humble and answers his call thus reciprocating her love to him, the reciprocation of her love to him ravishes his heart, is more delightful than wine and highly valued by him/Him. Then they both enjoy the best of each other to the fullest.
