What Christ felt on the cross we feel as well.
Not to the fullest extent but it is of the same nature. The nature of the Wrath of God.
Adam and Eve felt it when they sinned. They went from perfect holy loving fellowship with God and one another to feeling painful separation, shame and nakedness for the first time. Standing there feeling Naked and exposed like a prostitute caught in the action they try to cover their shame and sin by the works of their own hands, yes Adam needing a covering but it had to be a covering provided but the death of a substitute. Look an animal that did nothing wrong is going to die in your place. Yes you are feeling some separation but the rest of the full wrath of God will be poured out on the coming messiah your substitute. In the day that you eat of the fruit you and or your surety will die. Love is stronger than sin and death. Unquenchable Love for the honor of God and love to sinners he took upon himself the full wrath of God to prove His love to His enemies. Nothing and no-one could stop Him from loving His enemies. It has power for resurrection within Itself. Life.
Israel knew what a life of slavery, misery, working for someone else and getting nowhere, life was meaningless and painful apart from a covenant relationship with God and Israel knew it. Israel wondered about it? They thought God left them in Ex. 17 God’s promise of help seemed to not be coming true. They thought he had left them. God was always there, He was only testing them. They thought God had left. Ex. 17:7 They needed to live by faith and not by sight, when it seemed like the promises weren’t coming true.- David din’t want God to take His Spirit away, God taking His Spirit away is the same as Him pouring out His Wrath.
- This was the suffering of the psalmist in ps. 22
- This is similar to a nightmare that you don’t want to happen
You don’t want to feel as if you are separated from the one you love. Song 3:1-4 and Song 5 Our sins separate us from the ones/One we love and our hearts prayers and desires won’t come true. Is 59:2 “But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.” Being separated from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus is painful. Love desires the strictest union with the object of its affection. Any degree of separation is painfully felt. Especially when felt for long periods of time.- Christ felt it on the cross. Joyful fellowship and communion with the Father was broken when Christ bore our sins upon Himself thus feeling the full wrath of God on our behalf.
It pains him also to be apart from you, he experiences a type of death, a separation from the one He loves when they sin. His love to them was not reciprocated. Communion in Love only happens when love is shown and then love is returned. A mutual delight in one another love is needed in order for love to be complete. It must not only be received in the mind or understood in the heart but also loved and delighted in in order for holy communion with God through Christ.- We feel the disciplining hand of God when we deliberately continue in sin. Hebrews 12
We feel separation from the love and grace of God in Christ. Christ felt separation from God fully for all our sins. Of all the wrath God for full satisfaction for sin was poured out and Christ. He drank the full cup of wrath and said it was finished. He paid for their sins, He felt the wrath of God on their behalf but they still feel something of His wrath or hatred for sin when they are disciplined and we still feel some separation from God, either physical or spiritual suffering is filling up what was lacking in Christ’s afflictions. Both physical and spiritual affliction. Separation from the Love and Grace of God in Christ Jesus. Even discipline is His love coming at us in a different way. In the mind of God, in all Eternity past God looked upon Christ and poured out His Wrath, we were in Christ before the foundation of the World in the the mind of God. So God poured out His full wrath upon Christ and the church. The church fills up what was lacking, what was lacking in His feeling all of the wrath of God for us is that some would still have to come our way yet only in the form of discipline and love but not hatred to you. Separation from God is an affliction it was Christ’s affliction. This separation is felt a little different as you get more mature. It pains you more when He leaves and the joy of your salvation is gone. Yes the Joy of the Lord is your strength so of course you think He is gone your losing strength to fight sin and the light is gone from your eyes. You took your eyes off the love of Christ and labored in vain in another vineyard. Separation is felt when sin is continued. When it be Satan, Adam and Eve, the Israelites, A married couple in sin, A Leader to His people, a pastor to his church when either parties involved in that relationship or union sin then separation is from the Love and Grace of God will be felt by the way of pain, suffering to some degree, misery, feeling like all is meaningless, hopeless and dissatisfaction.- Feeling separation. Feeling like your outside holding communion with God in faith, love and hope.
Psalm 22:1 “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning.”
- Christ felt the hatred and wrath so we could experience the amazing Love and Grace of God in Christ. We as believers feel separation from the Special Love and Grace of God in Christ, felt when abiding in Christ yet not felt there when continuing in deliberate sin. Not holding communion in love. Either you neglect to cultivate a growing love relationship with God or you cultivate it. If neglecting then you are cultivation for another. The soul has but one husband either angry hateful Satan who binds us in sin to misery, hopelessness, pain, tears and a meaningless life laboring for him. or joyfully united to your Husband Christ in Love, Grace and true holiness. The soul can only have one master! Christ is the one his servants serve, He is their Master, sin shall not have its reign in the heart of a believer when Christ is reigning there. Look forward to the perfect complete reign of Christ in your heart!! And fear separation from His love for then you delight is not in Him but in another and this displeases the One who Loves us. Jesus He loves us!!
Uses of such feelings
- May our love for the lost grow. If we hate the feeling of separation from God so much then the lost will hate it all the more because they will feel exact Justice and Wrath in outer darkness. Do we love the lost. They will feel separation from God forever. Pray and witness to the lost.
- May we be all the more diligent to keep ourselves in the Love of God in Christ Jesus. The dove eyes are faithful. They stay only on their lover. They have only one partner, one husband and their eyes are on His Love. Asking to see it. Asking to experience it over and over. May we see His love for us in feeling the full wrath of God for us. Jesus Christ averted the Wrath of God. It is supposed to come our way, But Christ demonstrates His love to us in that while we were still undeserving sinner Jesus Christ averted God’s wrath and it fell upon Him when our sins were imputed to His account on the cross. For the 3 hours of Darkness Christ’s felt delight in God was gone and only pain and death was felt, but death could not stop His love so three days later He rose again in order to beautify His bride with Love, Holiness and Truth.
- Know that all sin leads to death. Satan may say “don’t worry it is a little sin, its not that bad” enjoy it now. You see here. Satan trips us up by making us think fulfilling your sinful desire is a little thing and nothing to worry about. Yes it is something to worry about because it offends so great a God and it ends in Eternal torment. These truths must be drilled into your head so that when the temptation comes you will have the truth ready to believe and joyfully obey for the joy set before us!!
- Praise Jesus Christ for feeling the full wrath of God. He carried the most infinitely worse brunt end of the deal. Praise the Father for Sending Him to feel separation. Praise the Father for having the Love to send Christ. He was willing to break fellowship in order to demonstrate His love to everyone.
- Admire the Love of Christ in the garden. God showed Christ the cup of wrath He was to drink the day before He drank it. Christ wanted salvation for the lost and prayed for some other way to save them other than drinking the full wrath of God. There was no other way. Christ prayed again and was strengthened by an angel and then prayed again resolved to do God’s will and not his own. What wondrous love is here!! Behold Christ willingly chose to feel full separation from His Beloved Father in whom He was in perfect communion with God the Father in Love from all Eternity past. Here was the test of Christ’s will. He did it for the joy set before Him. And also I believe Him seeing the cup of Wrath fired the love of Christ up even more because now He really knew what God was going to do to them if He didn’t die for them. They would be separated from the Love of God forever. So out of Love Christ felt that separation for them. What matchless love is this!!
- The excellency of the love of Christ is Beautiful! This love is the Holy Spirit. Holiness consists in Love to God. Christ paid the price out of Love and honor to God. Ask God to show you love the Christ over and over again. More and more. And when more is coming ask for more this will honor Christ. He has so much love to give. Do not put bounds on your experiences of the Love of Christ. His love is boundless and so should your desire to experience it be boundless as well. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, know and the door will be opened to you. Keep asking, seeking and knocking!
Thank you for your response. ✨
