Soulmates =a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.
We know that a husband and wife are a unit, for the two are one. They join in marriage. Souls are joined as well.

The soul is the invisible part of a human being. Generally, we speak of the soul as having a mind and heart. In the mind are our ideas, thoughts and memories. In the heart are our feelings or emotions. Those feelings are love, joy, peace, hatred, sorrow, grief, sadness, desire, longings etc.
2 How do the two become one.
In the mind. The two become one by being of the same mind. Having the mind of Christ. Having His idea of God in our mind is the main Idea. If we know Jesus Christ then we have seen the Father. Having the same mind as to universal Truths that all people should have. Certain fundamental truths must be the same for two believers to be one. Who God is, what He is like, who His Son is, God’s will for us, basic principles of the cross and salvation that help with our idea of love and grace.
In the heart. Here you have love. Out of love, true love to God flows feelings of joy in the Lord and a sense of peace with God and man. Both must have love in the heart. A true love from God, that only those who are born again have.
So for the souls to be one, they both must have Truth in the mind and love and faith in the heart. Thus both have the same mind, love, faith and peace etc.
So to be one is not to think of the two physical bodies becoming one physical body like we understand one body. But the two become one like the head and body are parts of one human.
The idea of two becoming one is not that we see 1 man and 1 woman and they being one being but that their hearts function as a unit. Its about sameness and functionality of the unit. Like the head and the body are one. The head thinks and will and the body obeys the head. Obedience of the body to the head is a matter of function or proper order of things.
One head/Head is the wise loving leader and the other body/Body is the wise loving follower.
One king/King is the authority and the other is the filial servant.
One is the husband/Husband and the other the bride/Bride.
The two are one.
