Eyes of Love “Washed in Milk”

His eyes… “Washed in Milk” Solomon’s Song of Songs 5:12

Solomon’s Song of Songs is a love poem. Written to help us get a right idea of love. Love is a feeling. To sense that someone loves you is better than wine. You know that someone loves you when they do something for your good or happiness. When all their intentions are out of a heart of love. When the bride looked into the eyes of her husband she got the sense and feeling of what it is like to be loved by a great type of Jesus Christ. She put that calm, peaceful, pleasing and delightful feeling she got when she looked into his eyes in the words “Cleansed with milk“. She sees no evil in his eyes. No hypocrisy. Love does not delight in evil.

She could only be talking about the white around the center of the eye. But it’s more than that she is saying that his eyes were not just white but were cleansed to get that way. His eyes were cleansed or washed. That means they were unclean and dirty but now she gets the feeling that his eyes were cleansed with milk.

Now imagine she who was lovesick and on fire could remember what it was like to have a husband who truly loved her and you could feel and see it in his eyes that were “cleansed with milk.”

She gets the feeling that she trusts him because his eyes were the window to his loving soul. And his soul was cleansed. It now had love where hatred for God was.

Young Solomon loved God. The eyes of Solomon’s heart were pure. He had a new heart, one with love on it, therefore he loved God and other’s. There was no deceit in his eyes. There was no intent on evil in his eyes. She got the feeling like his desire was for her. Not only was he jealous for the one who belonged to him but he loved her with a pure, holy, sincere and unquenchable love. If there was any sign of darkness in his eyes it had been washed and bathed with milk for she got the feeling like his intentions for her were always for the good. She doesn’t doubt his love to her when looking into his eyes. His eyes were bathed in milk. His eyes were cleansed, bathed in milk. No wonder out of her love to him she felt peace knowing he means her no harm even when she was in sin and her love was sleeping.

This trusting of him and his love empowers her to give her whole self to him quickly and always for she says, “I am my beloved’s and his desire is for me.” Song 7:10
