God will establish his kingdom. He will build a house that would bring about greater revelation about God, who He is, what He is like, His will for us, salvation in His Name as revealed in the sacrificial system etc. God will establish his throne forever! He will have a special close Father son relationship with God.
“My son, I had intended to build a house for the name of the LORD my God. 8But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘You have shed much blood and have [d]waged great wars; you shall not build a house to My name, because you have shed so much blood on the earth before Me. 9Behold, a son will be born to you, who shall be a man of rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side; for his name will be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days.” 1 Chronicles 22:7-9.
Solomon means peace.
Solomon would live out his name.
Solomon would bless both the Jewish and Gentile nations with peace.
Solomon would bring peace on earth and goodwill toward all men.
Solomon was a man who made peace with God.
Solomon brought others to be at peace with God.
Solomon was prophesied to be a great king.
Solomon was raised in the knowledge of God and the Torah.
Solomon was a Messiah of Israel.
Solomon as Messiah was chosen by God to bring rest to His people.
Solomon “loved God” 1 Kings 3:3
Solomon had an unquenchable love. Song 8:7
Solomons other name was Jedidiah. Meaning beloved son of God.
Solomon was loved by God and his love would not leave him. 2 Sam. 7:15
Solomon as a Messiah of Israel would mean that his wife would be in the line of Jesus The Coming Messiah, so in her mind she might be the mother of The Messiah. The highest privilege any woman could have.
Solomon had a special close relationship with God.
Solomon would have God as his father and
Solomon would be God’s son. 2 Sam 7:14
Solomon would bring peace among God’s people therefore ruling wisely and maintain justice and righteousness.
Solomon, Solomon , Solomon.
His name was pleasing to hear! “Pleasing like perfume poured out, no wonder the maidens loved him.” Song 1:3

All of this was know of Solomon as a child, probably age 12-18, before he was crowned a second time. All of this was prophesied about him. Solomon doesn’t even have “immeasurable wisdom” until after his second crowning when God came to him in a dream. He gets this after his second crowning. Compare 1 Kings 3:7 with 1 Chronicles 29:22 and Song 3:11 and the anointing oils of his first crowing in Song 1:2-4.
The woman that wanted to marry Solomon believed the promises of God about him and therefore desired him to be her husband. She wanted a closer intimate relationship with him as soon as possible because his “name was like perfume poured out” and to be loved by him would be “more delightful than wine” Song 1:2. Young love.
“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth…” Solomon’s Song of Songs 1:2
She has him on her mind that she is deeply in love with. The fire in her heart compels her to desire the closest, most happiest relationship with a young king who’s name is very pleasing to her. A kiss of peace over and over from Solomon. She was a Gentile working in slave labor and multiple kisses from the king of peace would display no enmity.
All the women wanted him. They all wanted to be united to the coming king. He had a name above all other names. If we lived in Israel as a Gentile at the end of David’s reign with the next promised Messiah bring peace between the united Jewish Nations and Gentiles then their would be much rejoicing at his anointing. His love to Israel was prophesied. So he would be desired as a husband or king even as a child, who hasn’t even done anything yet.
The woman who desired Solomon had faith! Faith in the prophecies of God about Solomon! If she didn’t believe God about who Solomon was and what he would do then Solomon would just be another man like any other man.
Imagine wandering in the desert for years and then God promises that a king will come that will give you rest! Imagine living a life of war after war after war and now a king would come and bring peace! Imagine wanting to get to know God and then a king is promised to come that will build a temple that would reveal God’s holiness better than any other location, for in the temple was the “holy of holies”. The holiness of God was His Beauty which manifested itself in the temple like never before, to behold this “Beauty” of God was Davids deepest desire Psalm 27:4
My words seem to fall so short of trying to communicate the amazing degree of faith that this woman has in God and the new king. Egypt was still Israel’s enemy, but Solomon would bring peace. Israel still labored but Solomon would bring them rest during his reign. Israel had no temple and Solomon would spend the next 20 years building the temple that David provided the material and plans for.
Whether you were a believing Jew or Gentile the coming of Solomon was a delight for everyone!! If you were an unbelieving Gentile then you were enslaved 1 Kings 9:20-23.
A new world order was in the making. A Theocratic Monarchy with one king and the government of the united Nations of Israel was on his shoulders. Which is why as a child he asked God for wisdom and God gave him an immeasurable amount of it!!
Who is the “him” she is talking about and what did she know of him that made her fall so deeply in love with him. She knew enough to want to marry him. Even all the other single woman at his anointing wanted him as well! They knew the newly child king and his “name” was pleasing to them. “No wonder the maidens love you!” 1:4
So this newly anointed king was the most desirable single man alive!
In her idea of him he was pleasing to her. Just the mention of his name was pleasing to hear like perfume is pleasing to smell. The mention of his name was pleasing due to who he was, his titles, what he would do and his relationship to her. Who was he? He was a single child, newly anointed king of Israel. His main title was Messiah. He was not The Messiah but a Messiah, not The Christ but a Christ. Not The Messiah Jesus Christ but a type of Christ.
“There is a twofold knowledge of good of which God has made the mind of
man capable. The first, that which is merely speculative or notional, as when
a person only speculatively judges that any thing is, which, by the agreement
of mankind, is called good or excellent, viz. That which is most to general
advantage, and between which and a reward there is a suitableness, — and
the like. And the other is, that which consists in the sense of the heart, as
when the heart is sensible of pleasure and delight in the presence of the idea
of it. In the former is exercised merely the speculative faculty, or the
understanding, in distinction from the will or disposition of the soul. In the
latter, the will, or inclination, or heart are mainly concerned.” JE
“The mind being sensible of the excellency of divine objects, dwells upon
them with delight; and the powers of the soul are more awakened and
enlivened to employ themselves in the contemplation of them, and exert
themselves more fully and much more to purpose. The beauty of the objects
draws on the faculties, and draws forth their exercises; so that reason itself is
under far greater advantages for its proper and free exercises, and to attain its
proper end, free of darkness and delusion”
What’s in a name?
