(Okay this is an unedited version, but I just wanted to write as I was thinking, to my knowledge I was Spirit filled.)

Infinite wisdom is a Glory of Jesus Christ. Solomon had infinite Wisdom. This Glory of Christ is illustrated in the union of king Solomon and an enemy slave girl needing redemption in the Song of Songs. The Song also illustrates the fruits of that union, mainly sanctification through 5 stages of spiritual growth. Babe, child, young woman, strong young woman, to fully mature spiritual mother in Song 8:10,14
Solomon, the king of kings in Jerusalem possessed infinite skills to bring whoever he was united to as king or husband to perfect peace with God. He was the king to whom peace belongs.
Wisdom is skill for living. Solomon ruled as king in Jerusalem. God gave Solomon skill to reign in justice and righteousness. (it seems this was also done through God’s glory in the temple judging between the people 1 Kings 8:29, 33, the blessing of the people of Israel came through the person and work of Solomon. He was king, infinite wisdom, loved the people. The work Solomon did was building the temple where God’s Name was and where God dwelt with the people.
I believe it to be highly possible that when Solomon asked for wisdom that God gave him the Song of Songs. The Song is about the union and communion between a king and an enemy slave girl. A husband perfectly loving his wife. In this husband wife illustration the wife experiences the love of God (Song 8:6) through her husband 1 Kings 10:9 “Blessed be the Lord your God who delighted in you to set you on the throne of Israel; because the Lord loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”
The glory of the coming Christ or Messiah in the face of Solomon. As Solomon lived out his name the reflected glory of Christ is on display.
Solomon had infinite wisdom. Christ had infinite wisdom because He was God and always had infinite wisdom. Solomon had to be given his infinite wisdom because of God’s eternal love for Israel (1 Kings 10:9) .
The queen saw what was going on in Israel and concluded that because of God’s everlasting love to Israel He made Solomon king.
Seeing the lesser Christ fulfill his name, King Solomon, the beauty of Solomon is on display and seen by the believer. He will see the lesser glory of Christ on display in the life of Solomon. Or in the face of Solomon.
Solomon had an unmeasurable amount of Wisdom.
Another glory or excellency of Solomon is that, not only did he possess infinite wisdom but his “name” is “king to whom peace belongs”. His name is excellent in nature. A king with that “name” and infinite wisdom and a love that death couldn’t stop it.
The Song, oh the love Song, oh the deep deep love Song of Songs, dedicated to the king to whom peace belongs, the lesser christ pointing to the Greater Christ. One big love poem illustrating God’s love to His enemies through union and communion with His Son, the King to whom peace belongs with the skills to make peace between God’s and His enemies made possible only by faith in the coming Messiah.
His wife was constantly seeing the lesser Christ in Solomon.
The same is true in the Song of Songs. The princess of peace was constantly seeing and beholding the beauty of the Lord, reflected in Solomon, changed her from one level of glory to another.
The holiness of Christ on display in who He is and what He has done for our good and God’s glory.
The more eminent you think His coming is, the faster you will clean up your life and draw near to God.
The king to do justice and act righteousness (1 Kings 10:9). Fully equipped with the very Flame of God, infinite wisdom and the name “king to whom peace belongs”.
The Song of Songs and the life of Solomon puts the lesser glory of Jesus Christ on display thus changing everyone from one level of glory to another as his fame spread then so did the lesser glory of Jesus Christ dwell in their hearts by faith in His coming. The glories of Jesus Christ are on display in the life of Solomon to a lesser degree as king, husband, prophet, shepherd and high priest to whom possesses infinite wisdom and a love that not even death could stop it, substitutionary death like a lamb but human illustrated in Isaac, yet God in the Psalms, the very Flame of God in the Son of God will not go out, not even death could stop it. Love drank and swallowed up the Full Wrath of God, the Messiah would die and rise again because not even death could stop the Love of the coming Messiah.
- As King, maintaining justice and righteousness (comes only through viewing the lesser glory of Christ in the face of Solomon in His rule as King. Also Psalm 45:7-6 God, King is the messiah and also man and Christ is the husband in the wedding Song)
- As Husband, the glories of union and communion with God through faith in the coming Messiah.
- As Prophet, lips dropping precious myrrh and tasting better than the sweetest honey. Full of truth in living up to his name
- As High Priest, praying for His people.
God already had suffered in the person of His Son, that was done and love was on display in dying before the world began, so that the greater love bleeding is on display first than all the sufferings of all of mankind forever will always be next to nothing compared to the greater suffering love of His One and only Son. We are living in time, but God’s way of seeing things is that before the foundation of anything He chose us in Christ. God viewed Christ as always had suffered for His bride.
Edwards expounds the wisdom of God in everything, including his choice of the person of Christ, and the way he is particularly suited as the Godman to be our Redeemer. Not only that, he examines the necessity and wisdom of the various dimensions of Christ including his birth, his life, his teaching, his death, his resurrection, and even his exaltation. Each of these facets is shown to be an important component for our reconciliation, growth in holiness, and restoration to God.
What would Solomon have to do in the Song of Songs to qualify as a perfect type or illustration of how Christ loves the Church?
- She would have to be an enemy needing redemption for the greater love to be on display. And she is an enemy of God and in slavery. 1 Kings 9:20-23, Song 1:6 “made me keeper of the vineyards” she is in slavery, or forced labor.
- Solomon would have to be sanctifying his wife in order for a proper and fit illustration. Solomon does this through metaphoric language through the 5 stages of growth of a believer. Babe, Child, Young Man, Strong Young man and Father.
The Love of God is seen in the death of the coming Messiah. Abraham knew the messiah would die, be human, come back to life, in Song 8:6 he has a love that not even death could stop it. This is no human love, death would stop our love, but Solomon possessed a love that not even death could stop Him. Christ is the Greater Solomon. The Greater King to whom peace belongs.
